I'M BACK!!!

Well technically I've been back for a few days now. The trip to Puerto Plata was awesome! I didn't think I'd have so much fun. Bryan is a good guy to travel with. As soon as we got to the resort, he made friends and by the end of the week, we pretty much had our own crew consisting of 4 Brits and 6 people from Toronto. The bus ride back to the resort was hilarious and the flight home was lovely.

Our flight there and back had a total of 70 people on the plane. I love empty flights, It makes it so much easier and more comfortable flying with a whole row to yourself!

The resort we went to was Blue Bay Villas Doradas. I've had my hesitations visiting Puerto Plata and now that I've gone, I really wouldn't mind going back. The resort was small yet beautiful! The beach was dark brown and HOT, something I'm not use to when I go down there but still it was lovely to sit there and listen to the waves. The most important part is that the food was GREAT! I miss Dominican Food.

Now lets get to the good part...

I FINALLY WENT SURFING!!!!!!!!!! So I had this vision of me recording the moment when I finally got on a wave, the problem was however, noone was there to take the video or pictures. Bryan and I were told to go in the water at the same time. At that point really I didn't care. It was all about living for the moment. I can proudly say that I stood up on my very first wave. I had to. Jim had placed a challenge on me that I had to stand up since he did. I rode the wave for about 10 seconds, lifted my arms up and yelled and fell in the water. It was incredible. It's really hard to explain it. I was SO NOT FIT for the sport. The one thing that you really need to do are push ups. You do this to avoid the wave, you do this to get off the board and really I can't do a push up on steady ground, let alone a wave. The one picture B managed to take of me tho was me paddling out into the water to catch a wave. As you can tell the waves we were riding were ummm yeah BIG! I don't care. I loved it even though for a moment I thought this was the worst idea ever. The conditions were not ideal but when dealing with nature, you gotta take whats given to you. It was just surreal watching these surfers. I loved it. Next time I hope to share that experience with Alysia. I really wanted her to see me do it for the first time. Here is a pic of me paddling into oblivion. LOVE IT!

Anyway thats really the gist of my trip. Good times, great people and most important of all, another one off my list. You can look at all my pics here.

2 more months to go and off to Cuba we go!
