3 MORE DAYS!... BITTER SWEET

I'm sitting here at work and i just realized that I will be leaving for my trip in 3 days. The whole thing seems so surreal to me since I've been talking about surfing for 8 years now and finally it's going to happen. It's kind of bitter sweet though cause we were suppose to go for Pat's stag but his work is being tight and now it's is only Bryan and I scheduled to go. Hopefully things change within the 2 days and Pat's work eases up on him.

I think I finally found who I'm going to go with in regards to the surf school. After reading numerous websites and a crap load of correspondence with other surf schools, I think I found the one I'm going with. I'm saying it like I'm not sure because I still have to see and assess what the situation down there is in regards to weather, transportation to Cabarete (30-45min away from our resort) and I would like to talk to our tour rep down there just to get some sound advice in order to make a smart and informed decision. I told myself last year that I wouldn't go on another trip with just another guy. Mainly because it gets boring. No offense to Jp, but even he said that he'll never do that again. Minimum 3 guys should do a trip together.

I don't really have to go 3 days of surfing or even a full week of it. I'm happy just to even do one hour of it. I'll be fine after that. I really wanted Leesh to be there to see me do it for the first time but I know this is something I really have to do for myself. Just the timing of it all sucks and I hope this trip doesn't become a waste of time. If it does, I will be extremely upset! There were alot of things stopping me to go on this trip and I pushed for it. So if this just becomes an ordinary vacation, I have my reasons to be very angry. Leaving Leesh for a week at this time isn't really the best thing so I swear this better be fucking worth it!!

HOLY SHIT!

No this was not altered in anyway. I was looking to see if there were flights still available for Pat and his bro to come next week and I saw this as the deal of the day! Leesh and I looked at each other and went uhhhh WTF?!?! It's true..this resort is going for this cheap...be warned though..take a look at the reviews and see. At least I can basically say I've seen a resort go for less than $100 LOL!

ANNOUNCEMENT

I've been talking about some big news that I had and here it is...

I'M FINALLY GOING SURFING!!!!!!!!

In 2 weeks, I head to the North Coast of the Dominican Republic to hit up the waves and catch some rays with Pat, Rob and Bryan. Well, Bryan and I have booked last week at the Travel Show so were still waiting to see if Pat can go. So yes..after 7 or 8 years of talking about it, I'm finally doing it! I'm so EXCITED!!!!

Another trip that we booked last weekend is our trip to Cuba in Christmas!!! Leesh and I have never gone to Cuba together and this will also be our first time on a beach during Christmas. It's our first ever Christmas Vacation!!! We will be staying at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar in Varadero, Cuba. We wanted to go to Mexico, but Dionne, our travel agent wouldn't let us go there. As she says.."Theres so many other places to go!" I can't wait!!

So yeah..hopefully the weather holds up in 2 weeks down in the Dominican. I'm so excited!!!!

Last night Alysia and I watched the 1995 movie Higher Learning again. DAMN!! I forgot how HEAVY that movie is! Good fuckin' movie! It sucks that after all this time that has passed since that movie was released, the world is still dealing with the same issues with no or very little progress. Anyway, check it out when you have the chance. I think I want to buy all the throw back movies now. Whats your throwback movie?

VIVA LA SURF GREEN!!!

So this long weekend was an interesting one. On Friday I met up with Phil, Ed and Keith for our usual Jam session. This time it was held at Keith's place. Now the last time I went to Keith's house was 2 years ago and that was when the infamous "VEETOED!" line came along. I ended up buying an Ovation guitar back then without the knowledge of Alysia. Really it was none of her business since it was my money that I was using. Little did I know that when I got back home, I was forced to return it due to the lack of room in our condo. She also didn't get the concept of owning more than 1 acoustic guitar. It wasn't a duplicated guitar, the Ovation one I wanted was an acousitc/electric. DUH lol! Anyway that was in the past so fast forward to last Friday.

So Phil and I end up going to L&M near Keiths house. I walk into their acoustic guitar section and see this



WHAT A FUCKING BEAUTY!! The one I wanted was the Surf Green color right in the middle. I love it. LOVE IT! Then I said "forget it, it's probably expensive!" so Phil takes a look and says "OH NO!"...yes the guitar was going for a VERY VERY reasonable price. After all that excitement and ready to purchase it, Alysia's face came into my head. To make a long story short, this is basically what happened...
